Al Franken has decided to take down his shingle, and so this will be his last podcast.  As the show writes, “For the final episode of The Al Franken Podcast, we're joined one last time by our good friend Dahlia Lithwick, Senior Editor at Slate and host of the Amicus podcast! As we await the Supreme Court’s remaining decisions, we turn to Dahlia to recap a bleak judicial term, including the decisions to gut the Voting Rights Act, strip immigrants of their Temporary Protected Status, and expel transgender servicemembers from the military.

“Dahlia and Al look past the mainstream media's narrative of a ‘moderate‘ bench to reveal an institution deeply aligned with MAGA's political playbook that continues to make way for an imperial presidency. On a more hopeful note, Dahlia offers a blueprint for how regular citizens can find their lane and fight back from the ground up. Dahlia issues a call for Americans to move past ‘learned helplessness‘ to dismantle the cult of the Court and return constitutional power to the people.”

On this week’s Naked Lunch podcast, co-hosts Phil Rosenthal and David Wild welcome Academy Award-winner Brie Larson (Room) and former Milk Bar culinary director Courtney McBroom to celebrate their new book, Party People: A Cookbook For Creative Celebrations. As they write, “This is a sweet and satisfying conversation serving up tasty topics like mixed feelings about ice cream, favorite international frankfurters, dream party guests in world history, the psychology of theme parties, the best party music, The Bear, Thornton Wilder's Our Town, and favorite food scenes in movies”

On this “The Weekly Show” podcast with Jon Stewart, they write, “As the Democratic Party wrestles with its identity and direction, Jon is joined by U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) to discuss his unconventional place within it. Together, they explore his frustrations with the party's left flank, examine where he still stands firmly with Democrats, and dig into his steadfast support for Israel. Plus, Jon answers listeners’ questions about Trump and Blanche’s pinky promise, Tucker’s political party, and trying to understand James Carville!”

Author

Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.

Elisberg is a two-time recipient of the Lucille Ball Award for comedy screenwriting. He's written for film, TV, the stage, has two sort-of best-selling novels, and was a regular columnist for the Writers Guild of America and Huffington Post.  Among his other writing, he's had a long-time column on technology (which he sometimes understands), and co-wrote a book on world travel.  As a lyricist, he is a member of ASCAP, and has contributed to numerous publications.
