On this week’s ‘Not My Job’ segment of the NPR quiz show Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, the guest is Brian Cox, who’s had a long career in the theater and movies, but has finally became wildly known for HBO’s series Succession. (Point of personal privilege: he also played Hermann Goering in the mini-series Nuremberg, written by my friend David Rintels. A role for which he won the Emmy Award as Best Supporting Actor.) It turns out, too, that he’s a big fan of the Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me! His interview with host Peter Sagal is smart and funny with stories about the series and his raucous first wedding.
This the full Wait, Wait… broadcast, but you can jump directly to the “Not My Job” segment, it starts around the 18:15 mark. As a bonus, here is a clip of Brian Cox as Hermann Goerring, as I mentioned, from my friend David Rintels' mini-series, Nuremberg, from 2000. It was nominated for four Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Mini-series, and won two, among them Cox, as noted. He is wonderful in it, and twenty years ago David's screenplay has some eerie overtones with today.
