It's been quite a while since I've posted a video of Karl Stefanovic, the hugely popular and long-running host of Australia's morning Today show. To recap, here's a "Best of" video. He's a charming blend of goofball prankster and tough, serious reporter, which is an incredibly hard mix to pull off. (He's also the fellow who pulled the year-long stunt I posted a video of here, wearing the exact same suit on-air for a year, not telling anyone but his female co-host and without anyone ever commenting, to prove how unfair it is that women on TV get judged by their clothes.) Several years ago, they had what is now a famous contest on the show, and the video of it got so much attention that it even made the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. That's Stefanovic (pronounced Steff-a-NO-vick) on your far right -- As much fun as Jimmy Fallon is having about this, he completely misses the point of it. (In fairness, his staff probably never told him.) It was a prank the Aussie show pulled on Stefanovic. As I noted above, he was known for pranking other members of the program, and every once in a while they like to get back at him. And this was one of those time. So, they set up this competition between Stefanovic, a proud Queenslander, and one of the other blokes on the show, Ben Forder to see who would be toughest. And at the center of it all was the challenge to eat the world's hottest pie, made with a ghost chili. It's a chili that's so hot that the two men had to sign a waiver before eating it, in case they should die. There was one small fact they left out telling Stefanovic -- The other pie, the one eaten by Fordo (on the left)...didn't have any chilis in it. It was just a a normal, basic pie. Here's what actually took place.
