Okay, to be a bit more accurate, that's actually two Media Alerts tonight. Both are for late-night TV talk shows.
Set your DVR, if necessary. The first is on Jimmy Kimmel Live. One of his guests will be Vin Scully. I can't wait. Not because he'll tell such great stories -- which I'm sure he will. Hey, he's Vin Scully. But mainly I don't think I've ever seen Vin on a talk show before. Given the near-unanimous acclaim he's received all year leading up to to his recent retirement, I have no idea why not. Especially one of his great skills is as a story teller. And since the show is done out of Los Angels, full of an audience of people who have likely been listening to Vin for many decades, the only baseball announcer for the Dodgers they've ever known, I can't wait to hear the adoration he gets when introduced. The show airs at 11:30 PM on ABC (10:30 CST) And then afterwards, on another channel, Seth Meyers will have Al Franken as a guest. Franken doesn't do this sort of thing often, now that he's in the Senate, consciously keeping a low profile, so it's a treat on that level alone. But all the more so during this...er, election season. I've seen him with Seth Meyers before, so my guess is he not only knows him well from Saturday Night Live, but probably is a good friend. That show will be at 12:30 AM on NBC. (11:30 CST)
