Hosts Phil Rosenthal and David Wild welcome actress, director, writer, and producer Bonnie Hunt to "Naked Lunch." They write that “Bonnie retraces her remarkable career, including how as a young nurse in Chicago, she ended up making her movie debut opposite Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman in 'Rain Man.’ Hear Bonnie's ‘Jerry Maguire’ director Cameron Crowe send his admiration and a surprising fun question for Bonnie. This is a fun, heartfelt conversation with great stories from Bonnie about Hollywood and life.” Let me jump in here and add that the conversation is really wonderful, Bonnie Hunt is a total joy. But if you just don’t have time to listen to the whole interview, at least listen to the first 15 minutes. What I never knew was that Bonnie Hunt is a trained nurse…and still volunteers in hospitals every week as a patient advocate. And the first 15 minutes gets into this with wonderful stories. Moreover, it’s clear how much she dearly loves her work, not just from the stories, but at one point Phil makes a joke about patient dying, and listen closely to her voice how sad even just a joke about it makes her. Phil doesn’t seem to notice that in her voice, and soon after makes another similar joke – and again, she reacts the same. At which point he gets it and doesn’t make another joke like it. Here's the audio, but before listening, check out the bonus first, because this week we are providing an added option. And as the added bonus – as I mentioned a few weeks back, by accident I discovered that they now are posting at least some of their episodes on video, and this entire conversation is on video! I don’t know if they’ll keep going this for all the shows or what, since there are only a handful of “Naked Lunch” videos posted. By the way, a tip – Bonnie Hunt is in the studio with the hosts, rather than on Zoom, and sometimes she will be talking but the camera is on Phil and David. However, the cameraman framed the shot such that if you look over their shoulder, you can see Bonnie Hunt in the lower-corner of the mirror.
