The power went out here in the homefront, and knocked the Internet out, as well. After trying to reboot my router and modem for a while, I finally called Time-Warner to find out if they'd had a service interruption in the area. No, the person told me. Her records showed that everything was fine. Would I like to set up a service call for tomorrow?
That didn't seem likely to me that there wasn't a service outage. Not only had it been raining, and the power went out, but when I check my cable TV during the call...it was out, too. So, explaining that I didn't want a service call, I got bumped up to a higher tech. And -- yes, the power was indeed out. Not a shock.
