It was only a week ago that Trump spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany was a guest on CNN and told Chris Cuomo that she doesn't believe Trump has ever lied to the American public. People on social media began falling over themselves to post demonstrable Trump lies to prove otherwise. (To be fair, since the Washington Post has documented over 12,000 lies during his time in office, there was a lot to choose from.)
But this from yesterday might find itself near the top of that list.
For the record, there have now been four Category 5 hurricanes to strike the United States during his presidency. Those would be Hurricanes Irma, Maria, Michael, and now Dorian. What Trump said therefore either means that he was lying in his statement, or he actually doesn't remember ever hearing about any of the other three Category 5 hurricanes that landed on the United States in the past 2-1/2 years. Either options is dangerous. But this isn't about Trump. It's about the elected members of the Republican Party who enable him, are silent about this and are complicit in it all. The other issue is that at the end of Kayleigh McEnany's appearance on CNN mentioned above, host Chris Cumo said that she had no credibility and then invited her to come back again. The question is -- why??
