Every year, there are several Broadway events for charitable causes, one of which is the Easter Bonnet Competition. This is part of the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDs organization that brings together performers from the various shows on Broadway (and elsewhere), putting on original sketches, musical tributes, and parodies and also who comes up with the best...well, Easter bonnets.. This comes from the 2015 show. Every year it seems that The Lion King -- an extravagant show on its own merits -- would win the Presentation Award, and so the cast from Avenue Q (another show with puppetry, though on a far, far lower scale, albeit one with parody at its core) lamented never winning. And their hilarious spoof ended up winning them the Presentation Award that year. Having said that, before showing their award-winning number, it is helped to have a sense of perspective with a lead-in video and seeing (or being reminded of) what the opening number, "The Circle of Life," from The Lion King is, and how truly impressive it's done. And now, here is what Avenue Q came up with, "The Bonnet of Life." Most of the lyrics will be a little difficult to understand, but you'll get many. And so what? You'll get the joke...
