WFMT is the great classical music station out of Chicago, but it streams online, so anyone can listen. It's a commercial station, but doesn't t air recorded ads -- everything is written and read by their on-air announcers, They also occasionally air things that aren't classical, yet fit in with their charge.
One of their longtime hosts was the great chronicler Studs Terkel, who had a nighttime interview show for decades. (His official title in the program guide was listed as “Free spirit.”) The station still broadcasts the Best of Studs Terkel, Friday nights at 10 PM, from their archives.
For all you folkies out there, tonight at 10 PM in Chicago (adjust your clocks accordingly), they’re re-airing his interview with…Pete Seeger – along with two of his siblings, Peggy and Mike, both accomplished folksingers in their own right. You can hear it streaming on WFMT by clicking here. Then, just click the "Listen Live" button on the left.
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
