When posting the video the other day here of Theodore Bikel and Fyvush Finkel re-creating a number from their touring company of Fiddler on the Roof, it got me thinking about international productions of the show, some of which I've posted here. And I found a video of one that's quite wonderful.
This is a joyful 6-1/2 minute montage of highlights of the musical numbers from the Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv, in Israel, performed in Hebrew. It's an enthusiastic, terrifically-performed production, beautifully-directed, which was done in 2008 and seems to get the great Harnick-Bock-Stein material right, spot-on. The video is extremely well-produced.
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
