I've mentioned in the past my friend Valerie Alexander, who writes about happiness on her blog, Speak Happiness, and in her terrific book, Happiness as a Second Language. What I like about Valerie's writing is that she doesn't deal with "happiness" as something treacly, but rather practical. If something bothers you, and venting about makes you feel good, great. It's worth going here to her website, too, and signing up for her newsletter because once a month you'll get some nice quote, but mainly a handful of joyful videos. Here's one of them from this month. A video explaining why Daisy the dog gets her treat first.

Besides being so funny, what's most impressive about this video to me is how patient the dog is and how well it follows directions.
