A Fox in the Fox House

It's time for a rant about "Fox News."  Yes, yes, I know.  It's sort of like spitting in the wind.  But sometimes you just have to vent.

You need to stop watching these people, because they're not going to change. Your blood pressure is going to suffer if you keep watching these people. I mean, they're designed to get you ticked off. They're designed to make you question your sanity. You're going to watch these people -- you're going to say, "how in the world can we have such idiotic people?" And you're going think maybe they're not and you're crazy.

There. Finally.  I feel better typing that.  And sitting down looking at it -- I feel better simply reading it.  They're designed to get you ticked off.  They're designed to make you question your sanity.  How can we have such idiotic people.

But here's the thing: for all the people who agree with that sentiment...and all the people who don't and are mad at me -- I didn't say that.  Those aren't my words.  It's a quote from someone else.

That was said by Rush Limbaugh.

No, really.  Honest.  Seriously.  And I didn't change one, single word.

You see, Rush Limbaugh is in the middle of a snit-fit with "Fox News."  He had recently been on their show, Fox and Friends, and later claimed that the channel had tried to keep him from talking about several subjects, including immigration.  Now, whether this is a real rivalry, like two BFF's who suddenly hate each other because they really, really like the same guy -- or whether it's a joke "rivalry" like Jack Benny and Fred Allen had for radio publicity back in the 1930s, I don't know.  I suspect it's the former, because it's not remotely witty, let alone funny to the point of true hilarity like those comic giants had.  Having said that, though, and presuming it's real-ish, I don't think it's an unfixable breach.  The cute guy might start dating a third girl, and the two rivals will hug each other again, cry and pledge fidelity forever.  But for now, it appears to be real petulance of two bullies and liars upset that they're not getting to bully and lie enough.

As noted in this article here, Mr. Limbaugh took a phone call on his radio show, and when the caller made reference to a commentator who was involved in some way with Fox, that's when the host went off into his Sandra Fluke-like hissy fit, albeit without the slurs.  Those he saves for the womenfolk.

But still, his rant against "Fox News" was spot on.  And very specific.

You need to stop watching the "Fox News" channel.

They're not going to change.

They're designed, specifically, intentionally to get you ticked off.

They're designed to make you question your sanity.

If you watch them, you're going to wonder, "How in the world can we have such idiotic people?"

Not my words.  Rush Limbaugh's.

You know the phrase, "In Vino Veritas"?  When someone is drunk and rants unfiltered, he or she speaks the truth.  Well, there was Rush Limbaugh ranting unfiltered.  He wasn't drunk, as far as I know, but without a filter stopping him he said a whole lot of veritas that those not indoctrinated on the "Fox News" Kool-Aid have been insisting on and known for a couple of decades.

He rants, you decide.
