I thought it might be nice to send a little shout-out to Donald Trump since I'm sure his schedule has been busy lately, and this might have slipped through the cracks. But given his oh-so-whimsical physical mocking the other day of New York Times reporter Serge Kovalevski, who has a congenital joint condition, he might want to know that today is International Disability Day. Really. To save Mr. Trump some time, here are some suggestions for planning an event, and how to register one's event with the IWPwD website. Perhaps a nice barbecue would be fun. Maybe they could have a pinata, since the concept of Mexico and beating things with a stick probably fit in nicely with themes he likes. Of course, given his record I'm sure that the real estate businessman has his own ideas of some really fun things to do when it comes to others with disabilities. Joking about them being fat or what their physical looks are, or just the hilarious things they do with their flappy arms is perhaps more than enough. Speaking of which, have you seen the TV ad which relates to all this that one of his opponents, Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) has started running about Donald Trump? It's quite good. By the way, there's a fascinating thing near the end of this ad on behalf of the Republican Kasich. When presenting a montage of former presidents to admire for their stature, it includes Franklin Roosevelt. He of course was not only a Democrat, but in many ways the most-hated president for many Republicans, more so than even Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. After all, it was FDR who created the GOP-despised Social Security and so many other social welfare programs.
